About 2027 Discover NHL Winter Classic

The 2027 Discover NHL Winter Classic brings outdoor hockey to Utah for the first time ever on December 31, 2026 at Rice-Eccles Stadium on the University of Utah campus. The Utah Mammoth host the Colorado Avalanche.

This is the Mammoth's first outdoor game as a franchise (the 32nd NHL club to play one) and Colorado's fourth outdoor game / first Winter Classic. Rice-Eccles seats 54,000+ and previously hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. Announced January 7-8, 2026 by Commissioner Gary Bettman.
