Sutter Health Park is a minor-league ballpark in West Sacramento that serves as the temporary home of the Athletics in 2026 after the franchise left Oakland following the 2024 season. It is the smallest home venue in MLB, shared with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats while a new stadium is built in Las Vegas.

Address: 400 Ballpark Drive, West Sacramento, CA 95691

History

The ballpark opened in 2000 as Raley Field, built on a former warehouse and rail-yard site without public tax funding to house the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. It was renamed Sutter Health Park in 2019. For decades it functioned purely as a minor-league venue. When the Athletics left Oakland after 2024, they chose Sacramento as an interim home rather than relocating immediately to Las Vegas. To prepare for Major League play, the field was converted to natural grass and a two-story clubhouse was constructed behind left field. The Athletics are slated to use the ballpark through at least 2027 before a planned move into a new Las Vegas stadium.

The Ballpark Experience

Sutter Health Park offers an intimate, minor-league-scale setting unlike any other current MLB venue, with a single main lower deck wrapping foul pole to foul pole, a smaller upper deck with suites, and grass berms along the outfield. The compact footprint places spectators close to the action. The standout view is of the downtown Sacramento skyline and the golden Tower Bridge beyond the right-field side, with the Sacramento River separating the ballpark from the state capitol. The atmosphere blends a big-league team with a community-ballpark feel.

Food & Drink

Concessions reflect the ballpark's regional roots, with grilled fare, garlic fries, tacos and local craft beer among the options. The smaller venue keeps food stands close to the seating bowl, drawing on Sacramento-area vendors.

Visiting Tips

The ballpark is just across the river from downtown Sacramento and is walkable from that side via the Tower Bridge, a good way to avoid parking. Berm seating is an inexpensive, casual option and a fine spot for families. Evening games are far more comfortable than day games given summer heat. Capacity is small, so buying tickets early is wise. Note that six 2026 home games against Milwaukee and Colorado are played in Las Vegas.
